If you're a single parent, it can be a challenge, to say the least, to get anything done in the kitchen. When you have a bunch of kids hopped up on sugar who are running about, things can be trying. Whatever time of the day it may be, there's probably a reason why your kids can't quiet down. So how are you supposed to manage to throw a meal together when you're being pulled in five different directions at the same time? Well, have you considered that involving them could actually be a possibility? That's right, cooking with kids can actually bring a bit of sanity to the proceedings. It can actually teach your kids a thing or two about what it is that you do for them.

Of course, you won't be able to get your kids to bend to your will and put out a perfectly edible meal the first couple of hundred times. It may take a few tries, and you may end up having to throw away a few meals. You'll probably be on your hands and knees rubbing difficult stains off the floor for more hours than you can would care to keep track of. But your diamonds in the rough will soon learn how it's done. Cooking with kids can be fun. Eventually.

Kitchen designers usually tend to discriminate against the needs of parents cooking with kids. It's up to you to do something to let them actually reach anything. A stepstool or a small step ladder that's really stable can be just the thing.

Is your Child in a State of Kindergarten Readiness?

Author: Rhoden at 9-02-2012, 01:20, Views: 50

As sports-minded parents know, redshirting is a successful method used in school sports. Parents introduce their children later than usual to sports and hope that their children will be bigger and stronger and more capable of winning. In sports, it does work too. When it comes to kindergarten readiness though, redshirting fails miserably.

It's actually quite a popular trend – parents holding their children back from kindergarten for a few months or perhaps a year in the hopes that their children will in the meantime grow smarter than the other children and leap ahead. Well, research now proves that this to be completely wrong. Children who attend kindergarten and then the rest of school as early as possible turn out to be much more motivated and much smarter in life – because school makes kids smarter.

A child's brain grows at a very rapid pace up until he turns six or so. Putting him in school as early on in this growth process as possible is a great way to take advantage of it. But of course, you can't send your child to school at three months old. There is a certain minimum age for these things. So how do you know that your child is in a state of kindergarten readiness?

Arranging Bible Studies for Teens Yourself

Author: mbc at 16-01-2012, 21:56, Views: 52

Arranging Bible studies for teens can be, like most things, simple to look at to begin with, but a bit complex when you actually get in to try it out. And yet, if you are emotionally ready for the challenge, the only way to really learn to do this would be to actually jump in feet first. Here's what you need to know to make your first Bible study group a success.

Bible studies for teens, if you've been to a couple yourself are much about social togetherness as about studying religion. What that means is, that you have to recognize that while the gathering you bring together is mainly there to learn about the Scripture, you have to tread lightly around the central theme. In other words, arranging for interesting snacks would go a long way toward engaging your guests’ interest. Of course, this isn't to be taken to mean that you need to arrange for a veritable feast each time the group gathers at your house. Simple and interesting snacks would be appropriate, is all. Some believe that soda and chips would be fun; others believe that since it's Bible study, one needs to be more appropriate – with nutritious food.

There are some parents that worry non-stop about how much time their children spend watching television and playing things like video and computer games. This is a relevant concern, because too much can be bad for children. Some suggest that children under two have no screen time and then that it be limited from then on. However, you also have to think about the world in which they are going to live when they get older. Computers are in almost every home and are common in most workplaces. Allowing your children some time to play computer games can actually be a wise investment in their future.

Many children today go into kindergarten knowing the basics of using a mouse and starting and using simple programs on a computer. In fact, they may start doing some work at that age on a computer while they are at school. Teachers will help children that do not know what to do, but if your children have some limited interactions with computer games on your home PC, they will already know what do and they will already know that learning computer games at school are going to be just as fun as what they would do at home.
